Imagine a magical place! You wake up in the morning to the fresh coolness of a high mountain forest. You step out onto the porch and your eyes wander over a large lush valley filled with early morning fog. As the fog lifts, countless grazing Elk appear to your view. Across the valley, a small stream teaming with willing trout beckons. As the day passes, you enjoy interacting with your comrades and you pass tidbits of knowledge on to eager students of fly fishing. The evening brings a cookout dinner followed by congenial conversations and maybe some fly tying.
Step into this magical place and join NMT for a weekend on the Valles Caldera National Preserve to help teach one or more of our beginner Fly Fishing clinics this summer. Come a day early and get to explore the East Fork to pick the best places for the students to fish (try to leave a fish or two for the students). Spend a comfortable night in the rustic Bunkhouse at the top of the road from the visitor’s center.
We also need volunteers to support our activities at Tingley Beach with the City of Albuquerque. Here you will introduce youngsters to Fly Fishing and Fly Tying. Many of the parents become quite interested also.
We also have opportunities with the public schools and various scouting activities planned for this summer. If you are interested in helping out or would like more information, please contact Francis Peter.
