Join Rio Grande Return and New Mexico Trout to plant willows along Rio Cebolla to improve habitat for beavers and trout.
Date: Saturday, May 18 from 9am to 3pm
Location: Rio Cebolla upstream of Seven Springs Hatchery
Bring: food/water, work gloves, warm clothing (layers), muck boots/hiking boots, hat/sunscreen
How You Can Participate
- Volunteer. Come plant willow poles with us. No prior experience is needed, just your enthusiasm and willingness to make a difference.
- Learn. In 2023 Rio Grande Return installed approximately 150 beaver dam analogs and post-assisted log structures in Rio Cebolla along a former beaver meadow. Learn about the role of beaver mimicry in improving water quality, storing water, expanding wetlands and creating wildlife habitat.
