Dates have been set for the youth/adult fly fishing clinics for 2015 at the Valles Caldera National Preserve. New Mexico Trout will again provide the instructors for the clinics. New for this year we will be conducting the casting practice on a large stock tank rather than on land. Also new this year we will be fishing San Antonio Creek for the fishing part of the clinic. As in past years, the clinics will be held on weekends and the volunteers and students will be able to stay overnight in either the bunkhouse or the lodge. Dates for this year are June 20 ... Both Project Healing Waters and NM Trout wish to thank all donors and all of you who bought items from the gear swap. The intrepid tiers of the Fly Tying Round Table, which have met every week since before recorded history, have begun to offer tying classes on the third Tuesday of every month, from 7-9pm. Each class will feature a specific fly to demonstrate some particular technique. An experienced tier will demonstrate the fly to the class while students follow the steps. Students can bring their own equipment or it will be provided. The lesson will include advice on how to fish the particular fly and the times and places in New Mexico where it would be a good choice. New Mexico Trout is proud to bring the Fly Fishing Film Tour to Albuquerque. Watch a variety of films, swap stories, and support conservation all at the same time.There will be refreshments and a raffle. The showing will be Friday, October 17 at 7pm at the South Broadway Cultural Center. Come early and join us for no-host happy hour, starting at 6:00. New Mexico Trout is sponsoring a a Fly Tyers' Symposium and Gear Swap! The event will be held Saturday, November 15th at the NM Veteran's Memorial (1100 Louisiana Blvd SE) from 10 AM until 4 PM. We will have ten tyers demonstrating various styles of flies suited to tempt fall-spawning trout as well as the tyers' signature patterns.
