CONCLAVE [kon-kleyv] – an assembly or gathering of a group or association, especially one that has special importance.
New Mexico Trout will hold its 34th Annual Conclave and primary fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM at Sandia Preparatory School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This year the featured speakers are Dave Whitlock, noted author, lecturer and artist, Emily Whitlock, accomplished fly-fishing instructor, photographer and advocate for women in fly fishing, and Bob Widgren, expert angler and fly rod builder. Each will give a series of informational and educational talks throughout the day. Ms. Whitlocks’s presentation will focus on topics of particular interest to women.
The Conclave will also include clinics on beginning and advanced fly-casting (weather permitting), fishing knots, fly tying demonstrations, and split bamboo fly rodbuilding. The Conclave will feature the always popular raffle, which provides a chance to win fabulous prizes for the cost of a single ticket! This year’s donations from our sponsors and vendors include fly rods, reels, waders, boots, guided fishing trips, antique fishing equipment, and handmade quilts. Admission to the Conclave is $25.00 for members and $35.00 for non-members, which includes lunch for tickets purchased in advance (before 19 March).
Admission for kids age 15 and younger is free, but they must register by March 19th to get lunch. The raffle will include some kids-only items, but they must be present to participate in the raffle.
Tickets are available at our website, and at Charlie’s and Los Pinos Fly Shops. Visit our web site at www.newmexicotrout.org for the Conclave agenda and details.
